Livestock country close to the city
Upper Clydesdale and the Lanarkshire uplands are largely livestock country, with beef, sheep and dairy farms and a long tradition of livestock markets. The Clyde Valley has historically been a fruit and glasshouse area, and farms nearer Glasgow often run business units, livery yards or farm shops.
Roofs and ground
Cattle courts, hay sheds and converted steadings are the usual options. Former glasshouse sites and yards can sometimes take a ground-mount array. We survey older roofs before recommending a design, and on exposed upland sites in Upper Clydesdale we also check wind loading on the frame and fixings.
Grid connection
Lanarkshire is served by SP Energy Networks. We confirm local capacity, submit the paperwork and design to any export limit.
Typical demand
Milking and cooling, workshops, feed handling, business unit lighting and heating, and livery yard water and lighting are common daytime loads.
Farms that rent out sheds or yards for storage and light industry often have tenants on separate meters. We can design systems that supply your own buildings first and show how any arrangement with tenants would work, keeping the metering clear and compliant.
