Who we are

Farm Solar Scotland is a trading name of Scot Energy Efficiency Ltd, company number 17408629. We are part of the Scottish Energy Efficiency network, which works with households and businesses across Scotland on energy improvements.

Farm Solar Scotland is a trading name of Scot Energy Efficiency Ltd, company number 17408629, registered office 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA.

Our focus is on farms, rural properties and the businesses that sit alongside them. We design every system around your own electricity usage and your buildings, rather than working to a sales target, and we install through MCS-certified partners.

What we do

We cover the full process from first conversation to commissioned system:

  • Solar design. Rooftop arrays on barns, sheds, workshops and commercial buildings, and ground-mounted systems on suitable land. Each design is sized from your actual electricity bills and your roof or land area. See our farm solar panels guide for sizing detail.
  • Battery storage. Batteries paired with solar to cover early-morning, evening and overnight loads, sized to your usage pattern and your incoming supply.
  • Grid connection. G98 notifications and G99 applications to SP Energy Networks or SSEN, including export-limited and zero-export designs where the local network is constrained.
  • Maintenance. Ongoing monitoring, inspection and performance review for installed systems.

We work with all types of farm and business building, including profiled metal and fibre cement roofs, and we plan carefully for fragile roofs under HSE guidance. Read more in our business and farm solar guide.

Areas covered

We cover all of Scotland, from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands. That includes the Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Lothian, Stirlingshire, Fife, Perthshire, Angus, Aberdeenshire, Moray, the Highlands and the Islands. Whatever your postcode, we can design a system for your site.

Your region affects the network operator you apply to, how much export capacity is available, and the type of farm buildings you are likely to have. Our areas we cover guide breaks down the local detail for each region.

How we work

Every project follows the same steps, so you know what to expect from the first call to the finished system:

  1. Desktop assessment. You send your latest electricity bill and tell us about the site. We model your usage, roof or land area, and likely system size. No site visit needed for the first conversation.
  2. Site survey. We inspect the roof or land, the structure, shading, the incoming supply and the distribution boards, and note any access or safety needs.
  3. Fixed quote. You receive a fixed written quote with the system design, a site-specific generation estimate and everything included in the price. No estimate ranges.
  4. Installation. The system is installed through our MCS-certified partners, tested, commissioned and handed over with documentation and monitoring.

Finance

Interest-free credit up to £30,000, subject to status.

You can pay outright, use finance, or combine a deposit with finance. The system, the warranty and the quote stay the same whichever you choose. Solar equipment on farm and business buildings may qualify for capital allowances, including the Annual Investment Allowance, which can let a business deduct qualifying spending from taxable profits. Always confirm the tax treatment with your accountant. Our finance and tax relief guide explains the options in full.
